Manage product images
Add images to a product and decide which one is shown first.
Every product has a gallery. It holds all the photos of that product, in the order the customer scrolls through them. You find the gallery in the product form, between the product basics and the pricing and stock settings.
The first image counts twice
The first image in the gallery is the featured image. It shows up as the thumbnail in the product list, and usually when someone shares the product on social media.
To feature a different photo, move it to the first position in the gallery. Then check the product list: it shows straight away which photo Nimbu now uses as the thumbnail.
Add images
- Open the product.
- Go to the gallery.
- Add your files.
- Move the photo that should lead into the first position.
- Save with Product bijwerken (update product).
Practical tips for your photos
Shoot every product the same way. One background, one lighting setup, the same crop. A list of thirty products in thirty styles looks messy, even when each photo is good on its own.
Use square photos unless your theme asks for something else. Square crops least awkwardly in lists and tiles.
Make them big enough to zoom into, but no bigger than needed. A file of several megabytes slows your shop down noticeably on mobile. Around 1500 by 1500 pixels is plenty for most shops.
Show the variants that look different. If you sell the mug in three colours, put all three colours in the gallery.
